What to do about food aggressive puppy behaviour?

I have a 11 week old Border Collie puppy. I first noticed her tendency to be food aggressive when she snarled and snapped at my shih tzu. So I started feeding her alone with just me. Recently she started this behaviour with me. She doesn’t do it as severe as with my other dog. Her posture gets very stiff and she does a low growl. When she does it, I take her by the collar and push her to the ground until she calms down. Am I going about it in the wrong way? The thing is I do not know what I am doing wrong. I make her sit and stay and be calm before she gets food. I even tried putting treats and hand feeding her for like a week. Does it take more time then that for it to register? anybody else ever have this problem and what did you do about it? I feed her two big bowls two times a day btw and my vet said that is a perfect amount for her.

She and you need training together. It’s always a good idea to separate dogs from each other when they’re eating as a preventive measure from this occurring, even litter mates will snap at each other when vying for food. However, it’s never a good thing when your dog snarls at you. As far as pushing her to the ground, she may see this as aggressive behavior and bite you for doing this when she’s already upset. Until you can get her into training, I’d suggest isolation while eating. Allow her to eat in a small space alone with no other animals or people around. While alone, she should have no reason to snarl or eat too fast.

Add On: Desert Piksy – I did that with one adult that I had to foster once. He wouldn’t eat when he was finally placed. Since I had given the new owners my number, they called me and told me he wasn’t eating when they gave the command. When I met them, I gave the command, and he ate. We found out that he would only eat when I gave the command and no one else. I ended up with him. It does work; however, you will have a dog that no one else can feed. Good, if you’re afraid someone will poison, but not good if someone else might have to feed the dog.

Massive Aggressive $12.78 Listening to only one Municipal Waste album — 2005’s Hazardous Mutation, say — one could easily be convinced that the joke would wear thin very quickly. How much can you really get out of cloning the crossover hardcore/thrash sound of D.R.I., Agnostic Front, S.O.D., early Suicidal Tendencies, et al.? Well, on its fourth full-length, this Virginia-based band of bros has managed to keep things relatively fresh, not by changing its sound in any significant way but simply by keeping the energy level jacked straight into the red. Grindcore drummer supreme Dave Witte bashes out lightning-fast thrash beats, leavened with some Discharge-style hardcore rhythms, as guitarist Ryan Waste and bassist Land Phil crank out retro riffs as potent as anything on Dealing with It, Join the Army, or Speak English or Die. Song titles like “Wolves of Chernobyl” and “Mech-Cannibal” maintain the ’80s vibe, while goofy but horror-minded tracks like “The Wrath of the Severed Head” and “Horny for Blood” are about what you think they’ll be about. Each Municipal Waste album has a theme of sorts; where Hazardous Mutation was focused on ’80s horror and songs that offered meta-commentary on the awesomeness of thrash, and The Art of Partying was about what its title suggested, Massive Aggressive is more of a mixed bag, though the primary themes are violence and destruction, with a tiny bit of political awareness thrown in (”Media Skeptic,” “Wrong Answer”).
